WHAT IS BEHIND THE NAME OF ELBDOLPHINS?

ELBDOLPHINS

We devoted a great deal of thought to coining a name which aptly expresses who we are. It has three parts:

ELB stands for the River Elbe and Hamburg, where we’re located: a major centre of shipping, maritime industries and international trade, which is what our clients do.

DOLPH comes from “dolphin”, which is both a reliable anchoring point and a nimble sea creature.

INS at the end is the first three letters of “insurance”, which is our business.

WHY WE ARE A GOOD CHOICE

„We focus on small and midsized ship owners and clients. If our bigger rivals don’t give you the attention you deserve, you can count on us to walk that extra mile to meet your needs. At the same time, we definitely have the critical mass it takes to be thoroughly professional. You can count on receiving first-class service from us – and, when there’s a need, we draw on a large network of top-notch service providers.“

Stefan Franitza, founder ELBDOLPHINS

Team

STEFAN FRANITZA

Stefan trained at an insurance company before attending law school and passing the exams to become a fully accredited lawyer in 1998. While subsequently serving as the in-house legal counsel of a German ship owner, Stefan discovered his true passion: purchasing and optimising insurance contracts and handling marine claims. He worked for several marine insurance brokers before going into business for himself.

Since founding ELBDOLPHINS in 2017, Stefan has continued applying his deep experience and familiarity with this industry to benefit clients.

MIKE HEINRICH

Mike studied business psychology and corporate management. After completing this dual course of study with a German vehicle manufacturer, he decided to work in project development. There he focused on logistics, where his family has a certain background too. With this orientation, a number of consulting assignments in the field of logistics followed; e.g. planning and implementation of logistics software. After almost six years, Mike was looking for new challenges and found them at ELBDOLPHINS and joined in 2023.

Mike looks at the maritime industry from a different perspective without turning everything upside down.
